Transcript:Fates Intertwined

The following is a transcript of Fates Intertwined, the tenth campaign mission of the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, as well as the cutscenes prior to and following the mission. The English translation was provided by Project Nemo.

Pre-Briefing Cutscenes

Park ITTC Transmission (Cannot be found in archive)

• Park: I'd like to thank you sincerely for promptly executing your mission. And, for the death of our colleague, we should be ever mournful. Accordingly, I have already decided that for her sake and for the sake of her remaining family, there will be no mention from UPEO concerning her acts of espionage. She was brilliant. But she died in an accident. Memories as a colleague of you and I alike just those will suffice. ... Right? Besides, your strength will now probably be required more than ever before. I believe in paying commensurately for work well done. -I'm counting on you.

UPEO pers. plane crash

• EAPN anchor: We're sending this news bulletin out with all transmission commands. The UPEO Delegate, known as the distinguished man who opened peace talks between General Resource and Neucom after the Faith Park dispute, Gabriel W. Clarkson, is confirmed to have died in the crash of a UPEO personal airplane. In the Lambert Mountains, the debris of the wreckage can be seen scattered over a 5 kilometer radius. As for the passengers and crew, judging from the damage sustained, prospects are grim. UPEO, alongside local authorities, are currently investigating the site. The airplane departed at 1 PM from UPEO Headquarters' Newark Airport, with Del. Clarkson on board, and was headed to Cape Rainy airport for a conference in the Meriton Region. Regarding the cause of the crash, UPEO hopes to find the flight recorder, which could further the investigation. On the shocking news of the crash of the personal airplane, Commander Park of UPEO, who were in charge escorting the airplane, stated "I still can't believe it. I intend on taking command of the search for the Delegate -and find the cause as soon as possible." with a visibly shaken expression while commenting on this sudden and tragic event.

UPEO's direction

• GBS Commentator: No matter how you look at it, he served many years as the face of UPEO, and there's no mistaking that losing the moderate Del. Clarkson, who had powerful connections even at the rising Neucom will bring about drastic effects. In particular, there's no avoiding change in the makeup of UPEO itself, most likely.

Briefing

Neucom high-attitude attack aircraft heading for General Resource-affiliated White Valley Air Base have been confirmed. With Del. Clarkson not with us anymore, the companies' battles will have no holds barred. In order to discourage any further escalation, you must promptly suppress their armed conflict!

Mission Dialogue

Mission Start

• Erich: Why am I even doing this...?*
• Rena: just for the sake of flying.

• Commander: Carrier aircraft appear to have launched from the high-attitude attack aircraft. Acquire and intercept immediately.

After all targets are shot down

• Rena: If I have wings that long for the sky, then no matter what... to live in the sky, like this, I'll do anything.
• Erich: So for that, you'll shoot down your friends too?!
• Rena: That's exactly right... Got it? We didn't have things like wings to begin with. If you find the sky so unpleasant, then you should tear off your own wings right now!
• Erich: R-Rena... Are you crying?
