During an increase in hostilites on the Usean Continent in the late 1990s, Ugellas had multiple FCU Troops deployed within it's borders. In 1996, when tensions began to boil over, the FCU Troops were ordered out of Ugellas and returned to FCU Territory. Years later, Ugellas was taken by Erusean Forces at the opening of their offensive, which sparked the Usean Continental War (2003-2005). Ugellas (ユージラス自治州), officially known as the Independent State of Ugellas,[1] is a country located in western Usea. Ugellas purportedly shares a border with the Republic of Amber and the Federal Republic of Erusea.[1]
History
Prior to 1996, Ugellas had remained under threat from neighboring Erusea, whose military had been mobilized near the border shared with Ugellas and Amber. In response to Erusea's sabre-rattling, the Federation of Central Usea (FCU)—in conjunction with the IUN—stationed troops within Ugellas to prevent the spread of Erusean influence. However, following the announcement of the Ulysses asteroid's approach, the FCU withdrew its forces from Ugellas to protect the Federation's interests at home and promote cooperation between all nations, including Erusea, in dealing with the Ulysses threat.[1]
