The Usean Rebel Forces were an organized rebel force mainly comprised of former Usean Allied Forces soldiers and personnel opposing Osean influence on the Usean Continent.[1][2]
History[]
Initial stages[]
Sometime after the Belkan War, the Osean Federation and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics emerged as superpowers. Threatened by the countries, the nations of the Usean continent formed a military alliance known as the Usean Allied Forces. However, the southern Usean countries opposed this and decided ally with Osea, much to the protest of the nations in the north and west.[3]
On May 30, 1997, the day of the treaty signing, several conservative extremists feared the loss of their mining rights and an Osean military presence, and staged an armed coup d'etat across the continent, forming the Usean Rebel Forces. Many personnel within the Usean Allied Forces also joined the rebels' cause, such as the Albireo Squadron of the Federal Erusea Air Force and the Usean 2nd Fleet.[4] The Allied Forces, who were taken by surprise, were forced to retreat to the west.[5]
All forces were consolidated into armed branches bearing the prefix USEA Unified (USEA Unified Navy or USEA Unified Air Force).
Operation Fighter's Honor[]
In order to increase their military strength, the Usean Allied Forces initiated "Operation Fighter's Honor" and hired the mercenary Scarface Squadron to combat rebel forces across the continent.[3]
On March 20, 1998, the Usean Rebel Forces dispatched a number of bombers to Twinkle Islands level the Allied base located there. As a response, Phoenix, Scarface Squadron's leader, was sent on his first official sortie to shoot down the incoming bombers. At this point, the Usean Allied Forces began to turn the tide of the war in their favor.[6][7]
Later engagements[]
In the following months, the rebels began to lose territory at an alarming rate. Key installations, such as The Keep and Turntable, were destroyed. As the war progressed, the Usean Allied Forces pushed the rebel forces back eastwards.[1][2]
The Usean Rebel Forces ultimately made a last stand at North Point, where they would launch an ICBM from Fortress Intolerance as a last ditch effort towards Yuktobania in the hopes of sparking worldwide conflict as a result, and escape from the chaos.[8]
On September 18, 1998, the rebel forces defended Fortress Intolerance from the incoming Scarface Squadron, but failed as the latter destroyed the ICBM from within the fortress, ending the Usean coup d'état in Allied victory, and the surviving rebel soldiers and officers captured.[9][8]
