Hello, I'm Jake Ryan. I am an aviation nut, and my favorite airplanes are the B-25 Mitchell and the F-14 Tomcat. You can find me regularly on Acepedia. I play games such as Ace Combat, Gran Turismo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, War Thunder, Robocraft, IL-2 1946, Gmod, and Portal. I have played Ace Combat 3, Ace Combat 04, Ace Combat 5, Ace Combat Zero,
Ace Combat Assault Horizon, and Ace Combat Infinity. I own a PlayStation 3. You can add me at TehEpikAspie or CampyGamerTag. My favorite aircraft from the Ace Combat series is the F-14D Super Tomcat.
Regal2 and his Ace Combat Experiences
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies
AC04 is a really fun game. When I first picked it up, I didn't realize that the flight mechanics were gonna be really different than the flight mechanics of AC5 and ACZ. I finished it in a few days, and loved every single bit of it. Except Tango Line.
Fuck Screw that mission.
After I played through the game a little bit, I decided to hunt down all of the aces. I had a fun time doing so. But one day, I booted up the game and noticed that almost all of my progress was gone. Turns out I had booted the wrong memory card. I switched cards and got right back to the action.
Overall, AC04 is really, really fun and it's easily in my top 3 of Ace Combat games.
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
I first picked up an Ace Combat game in December 2010 when I had heard about the Ace Combat series from a friend. He told me, "Check out the Ace Combat games for the PS2." Mom drove me up to the local GameStop, and I asked for an Ace Combat game. The cashier went to the storage room and brought out a copy of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. Mom bought the game for me, and I came home, put it in my PS2 and started playing. I was immediately hooked. I also experienced my first death in Ace Combat within the first 5 minutes of playing the Campaign: Ramming Bartlett's F-4G Phantom II Wild Weasel from behind. I remember that I couldn't stop laughing. I played again, and zipped through the campaign easy. When I played the mission Front Line for the first time and the Scinfaxi launched its Burst Missile for the first time, I was fooled and climbed to 5,000 feet. Little did I know the Arkbird was going to save me. I continued through the campaign, and reached Journey Home. There, I faced Chopper's death. I remember crying in the middle of the living room, out of missiles and special weapons and having to fight off the remaining forces with my machine guns. I put the game down for a bit after Chopper's death. I came back to it a few weeks later and finished the game up. Later, I went back through the campaign and destroyed all the Falken Hangars. I then replayed The Unsung War and Sea of Chaos over and over again to rack up enough credits to buy the ADF-01 FALKEN. I still play Ace Combat 5 to this day trying to unlock the X-02 Wyvern.
(UPDATE: January 3rd, 2017: I unlocked the X-02!)
(UPDATE: March 14, 2017: I finally got the SP paint for the Wyvern!)
Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
For Christmas 2015, I was stumped on what to buy. But then it hit me: "I should get Ace Combat Zero." Since I had joined an Ace Combat Fan Club on facebook earlier that year, I hit the page and they all gave a positive reception to me getting ACZ. So, I asked for it for Christmas.
I watched my father order it on Amazon in front of me, and all he said was "Merry Christmas."
I got it on the 28th of December and went on a binge play of it.
It was the second fastest time I'd ever beaten an Ace Combat campaign.
It was a lot shorter than AC5 (Which I didn't mind ((actually it really aggravated me)) ) but it has insane play value. I'm currently doing a simultaneous Ace Run of AC5 and ACZ. Also, ACZ was the first time I had ever gotten to Ace Mode. And I think it's amazing.
Hands down, The Gauntlet.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon
Now, this game went by very quick for me. I was bored with Black Ops II and MW3, and went to GameStop for another Ace Combat game. I bought Assault Horizon, took it home and played it. For the most part, it was a good game. The campaign was short, though. I do believe I finished it in about 7 hours. I liked being able to finally fly the CFA-44 and be able to fly as Blaze and Zipang again. But the thing that really got me was the multiplayer scene. By the time I got ACAH, the game was a few years old. But, the multiplayer scene was filled with aces that I always went up against. I remember this one user by the name of Fred_Mag who constantly murdered everybody with his Su-35 (Su-35 op scamco pls nerf). I was playing one day, and prepped my F-14D. With such a low-tier aircraft, I was able to wipe the skies clean of many aces such as Fred_Mag, LooneyAces, and GeminiThunder (XLAA op scamco pls nerf). Fred_Mag saw my capability and challenged me to a 1v1. Turns out I still wasn't good enough to beat him. He thanked me for partaking in a 1v1 with him and he hoped to see me in the skies of Ace Combat Infinity.
Ace Combat: Infinity
Ace Combat Infinity and I have been in a love-hate relationship. For starters, the fuel system really irked me, but the gameplay was amazing. The only game I can compare ACI to is AC5. I was happy Scamco brought back planes like F-14A -ZIPANG- and Su-37 -YELLOW 13-, but I was never able to get them due to my tight schedule. Luckily, I was able to nab the F-15J -TIGER- on its last day. I played with a few amazing ACI players such as HsyperSakuraRevenge and the almighty Fred_Mag. Now, I occasionally play Ace Combat Infinity, but not as much as I used to.
What's Next for Regal2?
Well, when I move out, I plan on taking my PS2 with me and buying the other games in the PS2 trio: Ace Combat 4 and Ace Combat Zero. I've heard they are really great games, and I am wiling to die to try them.
UPDATE: December 28, 2015: I got Ace Combat Zero.
UPDATE: April 25, 2016: I got AC04.
UPDATE: July 8th, 2016: I moved out.
Q&A With Regal2
Q: Regal2, what made you choose this specific username?
A: Well, it all started with a fanfiction I thought of that revolved around the Circum-Pacific War. There was a squadron by the name of Regal Squadron, and Regal 2 was the one everybody looked up to, including the squadron leader. Then, Death's chilly hand decided to take Regal Squadron by storm. Regal 1 was shot down by a Yuktobanian ace by the name of Zipang, Regal 3 was taken down by CIWS during the Sea of Chaos mission, but what happened to Regal 2? Regal 2 had a habit of cheating death. Him and his trusty F-14A Tomcat were able to dominate the battlefield every time. Regal 2 and Blaze maintained a close relationship, and aided each other when things were getting rough. After the war, Regal 2 maintained a subtle life in Oured, married, had a family, and went down in history as a feared ace.
Q: Do you have any other favorite aircraft besides the B-25 and the F-14?
A: Well, yeah. There are countless aircraft that I favor just as much as the Mitchell and the Tomcat.
