The Varcolac Squadron (alternatively known as Rigel Squadron) is an ace squadron led by fighter pilot Milosz Sulejmani, which is part of the Martinez Security PMC. The squadron fights alongside the M42 Antares Squadron while defending Tokyo from the Valahia attacks. However, Varcolac's true intentions are revealed while protecting Tokyo from the airship Orgoi: due to leader Sulejmani's philosophy of "fighting only for money", he & his men defect to Valahia, much to leader Nicolae Dumitrescu's joy. After defecting to the Valahia, the squadron is renamed Varcolac.
Trivia
- The name "Varcolac" is named after the eponymous Romanian myth of a demonic werewolf. Somewhat coincidentially, Varcolaci are commonly portrayed as ghosts and/or vampires, known as "Strigoi"-- this name was used in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation as the name of the Estovakian 9th Tactical Fighter Squadron Strigon.
